The Complete Submission Journey: From A to Z
Every submission goes through a comprehensive 6-step process designed to ensure accuracy, community consensus, and fair evaluation. Here's exactly what happens to your content:
You Submit Content
You fill out the submission form with comprehensive details about the content. This includes the title, type (movie, series, music), your proposed Islamic classification (Halal, Disputed, or Haram), and your detailed justification explaining why it deserves that classification based on Islamic values.
- The more detailed your submission and reasoning, the faster moderators can review it
- Provide specific timestamps or scenes that influenced your classification
- Mention both positive and negative aspects of the content
- Reference Islamic principles or scholarly perspectives if applicable
- Your submission is instantly saved to your profile dashboard
Pending Status & Queue
Your submission immediately receives a unique ID number and enters our review queue. The status is set to "Pending" and becomes visible from your dashboard. You can track exactly where your submission is in the process at any time. Email notifications keep you updated on each status change.
- System automatically checks for duplicate submissions
- Your submission is assigned to the moderation queue based on content type
- Initial validation ensures all required fields are completed
- Status updates are sent to your email (check spam folder if not received)
- Average wait time depends on current queue volume: 1-3 days is typical
Moderator Review (1-3 days)
A trained moderator carefully evaluates your submission. Moderators are experienced community members who understand Islamic principles and have demonstrated balanced judgment in previous submissions. They assess:
- Accuracy: Is the content information correct? (title, genre, type, etc.)
- Completeness: Are all important details provided?
- Classification Alignment: Does the proposed classification match Islamic principles?
- Reasoning Quality: Is the justification logical and well-explained?
- Community Standards: Does it follow Halalem's submission guidelines?
- Duplicate Detection: Does this content already exist in our database?
- Respectful Tone: Is the submission respectful toward different viewpoints?
Community Rating & Voting (3-7 days)
The Halalem community votes on your submission. Every authenticated member can rate and vote on whether they agree with your proposed classification. This democratic process ensures that classifications reflect the collective wisdom of our Muslim community. Voters can:
- Vote "Agree" if they believe your classification is correct
- Vote "Disagree" if they think a different classification is more appropriate
- Leave comments explaining their perspective
- Help determine if this is truly a "Disputed" classification through voting patterns
- Voting period: Typically 3-7 days (longer for controversial content)
- Minimum participants: At least 10 community members must vote
- Majority rules: The classification with the most votes usually prevails
- Disputed status: If votes are very close (within 20%), content is marked as "Disputed"
- Your aura score: Based on vote agreement - get +10 Aura if 70%+ agree, +5 if majority agrees
Administrator Final Review (1-2 days)
After community voting concludes, Halalem administrators perform a final review to ensure quality and consistency across the platform. Administrators consider:
- Voting Pattern Analysis: Examining community consensus and any strong minority opinions
- Platform Consistency: Ensuring the classification aligns with previous similar submissions
- Islamic Authenticity: Verifying classifications align with mainstream Islamic scholarship
- Submission Quality: Double-checking the moderator's initial assessment
- Final Authority: Making the ultimate decision on the "official" classification
- Content Integrity: Preventing manipulation or spam patterns
- Admins may override community voting if they identify harmful patterns
- They can request additional moderator review if needed
- They handle edge cases and controversial content
- They ensure the classification is fair and well-reasoned
- Admins provide detailed reasoning when their final decision differs from community consensus

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does Halalem include "Haram" content in its database?
Halalem's mission is to help Muslims make informed decisions about entertainment based on Islamic values. By documenting what to avoid and providing detailed explanations for why content is classified as Haram, we strengthen community awareness and help everyone understand Islamic principles better.
Think of it as a comprehensive guidebook rather than just a list of recommendations. This approach respects users' autonomy while providing guidance rooted in Islamic scholarship.
How exactly are the "Halal," "Disputed," and "Haram" standards determined?
Our classification standards reflect common Islamic values across major schools of Islamic thought (madhabs). However, they're not set in stone. Through our community voting system, these standards evolve based on collective input from our Muslim users.
The process is: Moderator Review → Community Voting → Admin Final Decision. This three-layer system ensures both individual expertise and democratic consensus guide our classifications.
What if I disagree with an existing classification on Halalem?
You have every right to challenge it! You can submit your own entry for the same content with a different classification and provide your detailed reasoning. The community will vote on both versions, and the one with the strongest support and most convincing reasoning becomes the official classification.
This is how Halalem ensures fairness and prevents any single viewpoint from dominating. Multiple legitimate Islamic perspectives are respected and represented.
What happens if my submission gets rejected or requests revision?
Don't be discouraged! Moderators will provide specific, detailed feedback explaining exactly why. You have two options:
- Revise and resubmit: Use the feedback to improve your submission and resubmit from your dashboard. You can do this unlimited times.
- Appeal: Contact our support team with your concerns if you believe the rejection was unfair.
We're here to help you succeed! Most rejections are just asking for more detail or clarity in your reasoning.
How do I become a moderator on Halalem?
There's no formal application process! We actively identify passionate community members who demonstrate:
- Consistent, high-quality submissions
- Strong community consensus on their classifications (70%+ agreement)
- Respectful engagement with other members
- Deep understanding of Islamic principles as they relate to content
- Time availability to review submissions regularly
When we see someone excelling, we reach out with a direct invitation. Keep the quality high and the community might notice!
Can I submit content I haven't personally watched or listened to?
We strongly encourage submissions based on personal experience. This ensures the most authentic and detailed assessments. However, if you're submitting based on research, expert reviews, or trusted sources, be completely transparent about it in your submission and cite your sources.
Moderators will evaluate whether your research-based submission is thorough enough to publish. Generally, personal experience is preferred for the strongest submissions.
Can I edit or delete my submission after submitting?
During Pending Status: Yes! You can request changes from your dashboard before moderator review begins. This is perfect for adding details or fixing typos.
After Moderator Review Begins: You can't directly edit, but you can submit a revised version or challenge the decision.
After Publication: Your submission is now part of the Halalem library. If errors are found, contact support to request corrections.
How are Aura points calculated during the community voting phase?
Your aura rewards depend on how strongly the community agrees with your classification:
- 70%+ Community Agreement: +15 Aura points (excellent submission!)
- 51-69% Agreement: +10 Aura points (majority agreed)
- 50-50 or Close: Marked as "Disputed" - you still get +5 Aura for contributing to important community discussion
- 30% or Less: No aura reward, but no penalty if it's legitimate disagreement
This system rewards accuracy and encourages thoughtful, well-researched submissions that genuinely help the community.
What's the difference between a moderator and an administrator on Halalem?
Moderators: Review incoming submissions for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to guidelines. They make the first judgment and can approve or request revisions.
Administrators: Make final classification decisions after community voting. They review moderator assessments, voting patterns, and ensure consistency across the platform. Admins can override community voting if they identify manipulation or ensure quality standards.
Think of it as: Moderators are quality controllers, Administrators are final decision-makers ensuring platform integrity.
How long does the entire submission process typically take?
Standard Timeline:
- Moderator review: 1-3 days
- Community voting: 3-7 days
- Admin final review: 1-2 days
- Total: 5-12 days
However, if you need revisions or if there's high community disagreement on a controversial submission, it may take longer. You'll receive email updates at each stage, and you can always check your dashboard for current status.
Is there anything I should avoid to protect my Aura score?
Yes! Here are submission practices that protect your aura:
- Avoid duplicate submissions - check first if content already exists
- Don't submit incomplete or poorly researched content
- Avoid offensive language or disrespectful tone
- Don't copy other users' submissions or reasoning
- Avoid spam or intentional false submissions
- Be respectful of disagreement - admit when community consensus differs from your view
Aura is built gradually through quality contributions. Focus on doing your best and the points will follow naturally!
